Tech Tip: If you pull the spark plug cap off the spark plug and there is a black film or powder on the top of the plug it means that your plug cap is worn out and the current is arcing between the loose plug cap and spark plug. The factory plug wires are carbon core which conduct less electricity than copper core wire. The factory caps screw onto the carbon core plug wires which have the tendency to become loose over time. These conditions will weaken the amount of spark that is being produced by the spark plug and can produce intermediate run-ability conditions.
